the things that come out of my mouth are astounding.

My life is ridiculous. I think if I were to ever write a book, my publisher would be like, "okay, so this is clearly fiction." and when I tried to explain that it was my autobiography, he would just respond, "yeah, I'm not buying that."

You and me both, man.

I had an interview today. I looked like this:

Okay, I'm lying. I wasn't making that face. I wasn't angry at the job.
I was fairly optimistic, actually.
and cordial.

like this:

I still look a little skeptical, but you get the idea.
So I'm being interviewed. I'm answering questions.
It's awesome.

And then he asks me about being a woman in the audio industry.
"What's that like for you?"
I'm honest, and I respond.
"It's not always easy, but I don't mind. I get along with guys better, anyhow."

and he laughs. and says.
"I'm afraid you might be too attractive to work here."
yep. QUOTE.

So I was like:

I mean, I really don't know what I'm supposed to say to that. Uh, well, I could try to maybe, not wear make up? Talk about trying to throw someone off her game.

So I went with
"I could be less attractive, trust me. Not a problem."

and inside, I did this:

Fast Learner.
Responsible.
Works well under pressure.
Can be less attractive if necessary.

...my resume.

OMG El. Don't feel too bad though. While I was in an interview, I thought it necessary to point out that my previous boss was a woman. I don't know what I was trying to prove either!

I left the room feeling like a dumbass.

Is it sad that when you said "Fast Leanrer" I automatically thought of Princess Jasmine? That face, the last one you made? i'm doing that right now, lol. "I'm a fast learner." *tosses huge ass pole to Aladdin*

I'm excited for you and your interviewness. Love the photos, and your hair looked (looks) totally bomb.

I kind of feel like that's a little offensive! Yeah, me, the super-traditional ultra-non-feminist.

Like, what's that about? "You're too attractive to work here. So, uh, sure you're good at stuff and all, but way to blow it by being a hottie."

I've told him to eat it. Actually, I probably just would've been like "Ahaha, you're silly." And then I would've made that last face, too.

@ Geof - first time real-life interviews happen. We have all said something really dumb. Look at me, I keep doing it.

@ Shevs - not sad. Awesome. Totes awesome.

@ MG - it was actually totally relevant and in context I didn't take it as offensive. He was expressing concern with working with all guys. I assume there must have been some kind of incident with another girl before me.

I will laugh all day with those images of your face etched in my brain. The things that happen to you are ridonkulous!

I love that your mom says ridonkulous...how great is that? my dad only ever says..."Fix that attitude or I'll get krunk on you"...it's really only funny the first time.
