The One where she Travels...

Welcome to an entirely New Year!

I can't tell you how many times I tried to blog over the holidays, but I couldn't seem to keep my mind focused enough to write anything worthwhile! I hope everyone had a great end of 2008, and that the outlook for 2009 is pleasant. I did a lot of traveling between Texas and Louisiana, and got to see so much of my extended family and friends. It was truly wonderful to be around long enough this holiday to get to see those that I haven't seen in years! The craziest thing to think about is that I didn't get to see all of my family!

The trip to Louisiana was a quick one, stopping only in Crowley, Tyler and then in Lafayette for just a brief while, but I managed to eat my way through. The weather was a little murky, as you can see, but that's the south in the winter for you! As usual, my time was spent talking, laughing and recounting stories from my father's childhood that sound almost like fiction. Hopefully sometime in the Spring, depending on what my life looks like (since I have no idea what tomorrow looks like at this point, it's hard to predict very far into the future) I'll be able to go back to LA and visit Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I haven't been down to New Orleans in so long, and I heard from a reliable source that there's store called "Breaumart" (pronounced Bro-Mart) that I just have to see for myself. I need to know what they sell. It's going to be fabulous.

For the New Year, I drove up to Austin to hang out with my best friend's college friends at a lake house in New Braunfels, Texas. This was my first road trip in my car since I got my new stereo, and it completely made a difference! Especially on the way back, when I had to make the three and a half hour drive on about 27 minutes of sleep. No worries though, I had loud music, plenty of redbull, and the drive on 290 between Austin and Houston is quite pleasant. I would love for some of my friends from California to come visit and take that drive with me. I feel like Texas gets a bad rap outside of the state itself, and the countryside really is breath-taking. Plus, look how awesome our road signs are! You will never forget what state you're in.

Other news, hmm. Slowly, but surely, I'm getting myself together. I'm gonna start trying to get a job with a local production company to combat my compulsive shopping habits. I'm constantly on the search for new music, good movies, and good times. Planning another trip to San Antonio, most likely, when AC Weese comes down from New York City. And probably a trip up to New York some point in the Spring. That's the trouble with growing up, in my opinion, everyone gets too far away. It won't be until the summer that I make it back to the Bay, but baseball season is coming, and I'm extremely excited.

I will leave you with this image of the Silver Volvo that I raced all the way to Austin. He was going fast, but I kept up. :)
